Editorial Standards
Car Care Decoded explains car repair in plain language. These are the standards every video, guide and image on this site follows.
Our information comes from public sources, and we link them
Each video and guide is based on public sources. The sources are linked on the page, in its Sources list, so you can read them yourself. We don’t publish made-up statistics, testimonials or reviews.
Prices are approximate and sourced
Every repair price on this site is labeled approximate and names where it comes from (for example, Kelley Blue Book). Real prices depend on your vehicle, the parts, the shop and where you live, so always ask for a written estimate.
Legal points are California’s and vary by state
When we mention a consumer rule, such as getting a written estimate before work starts, we show California’s rule, label it as California’s and link the official California source. Rules vary by state. If you live somewhere else, check with your own state’s consumer protection office.
Images are AI-made illustrations, and we label them
The pictures on this site are illustrations created with AI tools. They are labeled where they appear, and they are not photos of a real shop or person.
Corrections
If you spot a mistake, please tell us through our contact page and include the page link.
[PLACEHOLDER: How corrections are handled. For example, how soon you review a reported mistake and whether a corrected page shows a “Corrected on” date. Owner to decide.]
